Clottey looked good, but covering up against an aggressive guy is a sure fire way to lose a decision. You have to fight. You have to throw punches. You have to be aggressive. Sorry guys this is how competitive athletics work.

Gov. Wendell Anderson
I met this guy today! Wendell Anderson The former Governor and Senator of my illustrious state of Minnesota. He's a member at my athletic club and I thought the colleague that introduced was joking when he said he was the former governor. Governor Anderson laughed when I told him I was an 80's baby and my gubernatorial history started with Rudy Perpich. His resume was pretty impressive, he played in the 1956 Winter Olympics, played hockey at the U and served a stinted term in the senate, replacing Walter Mondale in 1976 when he won the Vice Presidency on the Carter ticket.
For 77 this guy is in amazing shape, I thought he was 65-70 at the oldest. I fairly wonky and was embarrassed to find out a former governor was standing in front of me and I didn't know it. Anyways, he was pretty cool, told some great stories, got in nice and close and made me feel incredibly comfortable...in other words he was a natural pol.
Pretty cool experience at least for me. I can't wait to chop it up with him about his feelings on the current state and national political milieu.
And yes he's DFL...no doubt.

On Turning 30
Does anyone ever think they'll turn 30? I remember thinking at 21 that 30 was light years away, some far off distant time in a future that would remain just that. Yet 9 years later here I stand. I'm excited. I'm not one to reminisce but my life has been pretty awesome up until this point, and if God is kind enough to bless me with another 30 years that rival the past 30 then I'll have nothing to complain about. I do worry about my body deteriorating but my Doc says staying active (and eating well) are keys to being fit and in shape in your 30s, 40s and dare I say 50.

Winter Olympics...good riddance
You know you're an international sensation when people who DON'T normally watch your sport watch it. See World Cup. I loathe soccer, but can't wait for this summer. London 2012 here we come!

"I don't feel so bad..."
So what they're poppy? I forgot how hard this song was! I love the visuals of the video.

the Catcher in he Rye
Just finished this book and I must say it was pretty entertaining if you like that kinda thing. I mean old Stradlater runs his mouth to much if you ask me, but you're not asking me. And Phoebe I'm mean she's the cutest little thing, she really is. I'm a madman sometimes. I really am.
Ha! Seriously though if you're looking for a humorous weekend read, give it a once over. You'll have plenty of laughs.

Really Tea Partiers? Seriously?
I've yet to hear anyone articulate what the party platform is. It seems to be xenophobic at its core. Otherwise if it was REALLY about spending and deficits, we would have seen you all materialize circa 2006...oh that's right your guy was still in office...my bad.

3 of these things
Remember that game on Sesame Street "3 of these belong together, one of these things are not of the same"? Well if you're wonky, listen to the 4 people on this clip that talk and tell me which one really shouldn't be talking (hint: it's the guy who's in way over his head on foreign policy. second hint: it's the guy who's paid to make law on foreign policy)

De Facto
255 "progressive" Representatives. 59 "for the people" Senators. And his wife is his strongest political advocate??? Wow! Way to use that leverage Ds. You make me proud.

I'm Back

Sorry for the staleness of the blog. But Christmas was pretty awesome for the Taylor's this year and then as most of you know I spent almost 3 weeks trekking (okay training and flying) across Europe. Anyways, I'm back and ready to roll.
Most of you know I was a professional trader for a while during my self styled sabbatical, anyways ever since I went back to client work I've been looking for a way to play the markets from the short side over the long term without having to babysit my trades. Eureka, I think I've found it! Kidding. There's no secret to being a good trader. Control your share size. Take the trades when they come. Stay disciplined. Count your money.
Glad to be back!!!

Mommie got Jazz
In the beginning I wasn't a big fan, but she's gotten way better as a performer and she's even getting better looking (if that was possible).

I love this guy
Fast forward to about 2:35 when he asks the ersatz intellectual conservative about her cap and trade position. After talking down cap and trade she can't even answer a basic question about her own position on cap and trade.

The Frogcess and the Frog
Surprise...while attending a screening of Precious, I caught my first preview of the much hyped Princess and the Frog. Not to my surprise I quickly deduced that Tiana, the much hyped Princess spends most of her time in the much hyped film as a frog. Yep, a frog.
I guess anthropomorphism is the only way to make the idea of a Tiana as a princess palatable to the world. I love risk modeling, quants and focus groups. They always make the right decision.
